AWM is a research-informed design lab, school and community with the mission to advance meaningful architecture that supports the development of healthy people and societies.

¿What do we do?

+

We participate in design projects performing Research-Informed Design Studies. We increase awareness of the needs of the final users of a space by bringing up questions, design narratives and insights that connect projects to its stakeholders, to scientific evidence and to possibilities for people-driven evolution.

As educators, we raise awareness in the design field by highlighting the overlooked social-emotional and embodied aspects of places.

¿Why we do it?

+

AWM exists to integrate care into the world. Our human-made environments convey messages that shape us. Could we intentionally co-design places that reflect what we truly care about? At AWM we strive to integrate health, creativity and community in the design of everyday spaces.

¿Where do we come from?

+

AWM evolved from Archiimpact, the digital platform co-created in 2015 that resulted in bringing people together and talking about how architecture influences human life. During the eight years of its life, Archiimpact created a worldwide network of architects and designers with common interests, published more than 30 articles and held more than 40 meetings, both in person and online. We are incredibly grateful for the presence, encouragement and engagement received from the community members and supporters.

“We are mentally and emotionally affected by works of architecture and art before we understand them, or, in fact, we usually do not understand them at all.”
